Preparing dinner can be pretty stressful for some working families or you need to attend a late class or appointment, or just have a really busy day planned, you need a good meal that you can fix in a hurry.

Our hectic and busy lifestyles do not give us much time to cook. After a long day of working, preparing a meal can be exhausting and tiring. It is extremely difficult to maintain a balance between professional and personal life for a working mom.

Quick meal ideas will help you in cooking a meal without much wasting of time and effort in the kitchen.

1) Planning the menu for the entire week a day before the week starts will save you considerable amount of time.

2) Bagged or precut salads are convenient and healthy, but can be expensive. Make your own during weekend. Cut up a head of lettuce and assorted veggies and put them in large Ziploc bags or plastic storage containers. You'll have a good quick side dish ready when you need it.

3) Doing some dinner preparations in the morning will save some of your time in the evening and make cooking in the evening more comfortable and easy. For example, mashing boiled potatoes or peeling off some vegetables before leaving for office.

4) Cooking healthy and fast recipes that won’t require much of time, and can be enjoyed by everyone is another great quick meal idea. For instance pasta treats, bread rolls with cheese, turkey and ham, pork spring rolls, meatballs and taco soups, etc., are some quick meal recipe ideas that will not only easy to prepare but will also satiate everyone's buds.

5) Employing modern kitchen equipments like crock pot, casserole, etc., will surely make cooking easier for you.
Make use of your Crock-pot. It isn't just for stews, although on a it is nice to come home on a cool day to have a nice steaming pot of beef, potatoes, carrots and gravy.

All you have to do is to add all the ingredients to the crock pot in the morning itself, set it on low heat to cook and by the dinner time the food will be ready to eat.

Try these simple recipes:

A) Place a 450g of pork chops in your Crock-pot. Top with salt and pepper, a little basil, some dried onion, and a can of cream soup. Cook it on high all day. The meat will fall apart and the soup combines with the juices to make a nice gravy. This is good served over noodles.

B) Top a boneless beef roast with a 30g can of tomato sauce, dried onion, oregano and basil. Cook on high all day; again this is good over noodles and your roast will be so tender and easy to slice.
